I had a bit of a revelation while being “in transition.” Let me know if you can relate to this mental state and what steps you are taking to make sure you’re ready to step back into the workforce.
Comfort in the Routine
I’ve developed a “job search” routine. I’ve signed up to notifications and apply to jobs as they get emailed to me. I network and have gotten past fears of connecting to strangers. I’ll talk to anyone! I post and comment on social media. I keep my LinkedIn profile updated. I support others that are “in transition.” All these things fill my day and I enjoy them. Maybe too much?
I Really Want a Job, I Think?
So, the one thing I’ve set up my routine for might actually interrupt what I’m really enjoying right now. I want to work but I’ve been doing things for me for more than a year and there’s satisfaction in that. I’m scared that getting a job won’t be as satisfying.
The 2 Magic “E” Words
Employee or Entrepreneur? Believe it or not, if you’re looking for work, you’re an Entrepreneur. You are out there selling yourself, to become an employee. And that’s still my goal. I have lots to give to an organization and love a productive team atmosphere. But I’m kinda liking the control I have while I’m looking. I’ve never been self-employed, but I get the attraction.
Be Ready to Give it All!
Here’s where I’m at. I’m helping out a friend with his project and getting a little for it. I’m still applying to jobs and continue to support my “in transition” community. But, no matter what, I’m ready for opportunity. I’m ready to be independent AND to be employed. It’s not by choice either. I have to be ready for what will be presented to me and have a mindset… to go all in!
