Actually, it’s “What am I worth?” The first thing you feel leaving you when you’re “restructured” is your self worth. Your value as an employee has been ruptured, and that perceived weakness bleeds into your everyday life. How do you gain back your value?
It’s in YOUR Hands
And I’m speaking directly to YOU, the friends and family of those who are in transition. For us to regain our confidence we need to know we have value. That comes from YOU, our friends and family, by seeking out our expertise with life’s problems. It can be related to what we did as our job, or not. I know just being able to help my friends and family made me feel important and wanted. And I say it’s in YOUR hands because our confidence and resilience can be greatly impacted by what “you” do.
Make the Call
Check in with us. And not to ask us “how’s the job hunt going,” ask us to help! The more thinking I have to do and the more creative I have to get to help you with your problem, the better I feel about myself. My experience has value and being able to dip into that bank of learning and pay it forward gives me the strength to battle my negative demons and not drown in woe.
The Payoff
You, asking us, to use our wisdom to help you, does the following:
- Boosts our self-confidence, which, in turn, makes us better prepared for interviews
- Reconstructs our self-worth by making us dig deep for answers that we may have forgotten we learned
- Rebuilds our value and might even help us discover a hidden talent
- And you, get help with your problem!
For me, getting a “thank you” from helping friends and family, pays me by raising my self-value. That value multiplies my confidence and with that confidence, I can face any employer with the best version of me… at full value!
